Recognize Signs of a Stroke

Learn how to recognize the signs and symptoms of a stroke

According to Mayo Clinic symptoms of a stroke include:

 

  • Difficulty talking and understanding others speech
  • Paralysis or numbness on one side of the body
  • Vision problems
  • Aching Head
  • Difficulty walking

 

When to see a doctor?  Use the FAST method and do the following:

  • Face- Observe if one side of the patients face droops
  • Arms- If the patient lifts both arms, does one droop?
  • Speech- Does the patient slur speech or sound strange?
  • Time- Call 911 if any of the above signs are observed

 

If you suspect that someone is having a stroke, stay close to them and carefully observe them while waiting for medical assistance.
